Methodology

Scope. All ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems proceedings, 1981–2026. DBLP catalogues the 1981 predecessor conference under the CHI stream; it is included here. The first conference formally named CHI was CHI '82, there was no CHI in 1984, and 1993 was held as the joint INTERCHI '93.

What counts as an archival paper. Only peer-reviewed archival full papers and notes published in the main CHI proceedings (DBLP venue “CHI”, plus “INTERCHI” for 1993), record type “Conference and Workshop Papers”. Explicitly excluded: Extended Abstracts, Late-Breaking Work, workshops, panels, SIGs, demos, doctoral consortium, case studies, alt.chi/RepliCHI, conference companions and summaries, adjunct proceedings, posters & short talks, co-located events (e.g. BELIV), and proceedings-volume editorship records.

Metric. Raw paper count — each author is credited +1 for every archival paper they co-authored, regardless of author position or number of co-authors.

Author identity. Authors are aggregated by DBLP persistent author ID (PID), which disambiguates people with identical names and follows name changes. Display names use each author's most frequent DBLP name form, with DBLP homonym suffixes removed.

Data source. Publication records retrieved from DBLP. Every year's record count was verified against DBLP's reported totals. Paper links resolve via DOI to the ACM Digital Library; author chips link to DBLP profiles. Data snapshot: 16 July 2026.
